Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Controller to lead our Accounting Department and oversee all financial operations, including accounts receivable (A/R), accounts payable (A/P), payroll, general ledger management, cost accounting, and budgetary oversight. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements, and managing month-end close processes, including intercompany transactions and consolidations for both domestic and international entities. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of accounting experience and a CPA, bringing expertise in process improvements, reconciliations, and reporting for enhanced efficiency and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Manage and coordinate all accounting functions, including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, cost accounting, and budget preparation and analysis.
  • Financial Statements & Compliance: Prepare and ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements; oversee consolidation of international and domestic entities, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
  • Month-End Close: Lead and coordinate the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, including thorough reconciliations and preparation of both internal and external reports.
  • Audit Coordination: Manage and liaise with external auditors for annual and interim audits, ensuring compliance and readiness of all required documentation and schedules.
  • Tax Compliance: Oversee various tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and other regulatory requirements, ensuring timely and accurate compliance.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage budgets, monitor spending, and implement cost-control initiatives to support the company’s financial goals.
  • Process Improvement: Develop, implement, and refine workflows, processes, and procedures to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls across accounting operations.
  • Team Leadership: Guide and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA is required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role; experience in agriculture or a related industry is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP, intercompany transactions, consolidations, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
