Schedule: 24–32 hours per week (flexible; ideal for college students)

Position Overview

The City is seeking a motivated and community-minded Temporary Community Programs Aide to support public-facing programs, events, and educational initiatives. This role is ideal for college students or individuals with experience in sports, recreation, event support, or nutrition education who enjoy working with the public and making a positive community impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with setup, facilitation, and breakdown of community events, recreational programs, and Green City Farm activities
  • Support nutrition education classes, public workshops, and outreach initiatives
  • Provide basic administrative support, including answering phones, organizing materials, and assisting staff
  • Pick up and transport supplies using a City vehicle for events and program needs
  • Engage positively with community members, participants, and staff during programs and events
  • Perform other related duties in support of the Public Services Department

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Experience or interest in community events, sports, recreation, education, or volunteer programs
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends
  • Valid California Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

  • College coursework or enrollment in nutrition, public health, kinesiology, education, recreation, or related fields
  • Experience working sporting events, coaching, camps, or community education programs
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments and at public events
