Job Title: Quality Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Quality Manager
Type of Position: Full-Time
Hours Per Week: 40+
Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Range: $40.00 – $43.00/hour
Desired Start Date: ASAP (depending on candidate availability and notice period)

Summary:

The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring compliance with industry and customer requirements by collaborating closely with the Engineering and Operations teams. This position focuses on high-volume and technical programs, requiring a solid background in GD&T, PPAP, FMEAs, root cause analysis, process improvement, and measurement strategy development. The role supports continuous improvement initiatives and is actively involved in project reviews, inspection gage development, data analysis, and customer interactions.

Key Responsibilities: Quality Management System (QMS):

  • Maintain and support QMS processes including corrective actions, NCRs, RMAs, and customer complaints.

Project & Program Support:

  • Interpret quality requirements and provide input to project management regarding timelines, feasibility, and costs.
  • Ensure compliance with part, project, and program quality assurance activities.

Measurement Strategy:

  • Determine appropriate inspection methods (e.g., 3D Scan, CMM, Hand Tools, Go/No-Go Gages) based on GD&T, customer specs, and project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with engineering to optimize methods for cost-efficiency, speed, and accuracy.
  • Review and validate initial data sets for compliance.

Gage Development:

  • Lead gaging method development for high-volume and technical projects in collaboration with program management and customers.
  • Conduct GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies.
  • Train team members on proper gage usage and troubleshoot gage-related nonconformities.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Manage and maintain PPAP documentation.
  • Support documentation for tooling control, drawing reviews, source inspections, and validation processes.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead or support improvement projects using Lean and 5S principles across technologies and departments.

Customer Support:

  • Participate in customer calls, audits, visits, and assist with root cause and corrective actions when needed.

Audits & Certifications:

  • Support internal audit activities and ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, ITAR, and IATF 16949 standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred)
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with PPAP and FMEA processes (required)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
  • CMM programming and operation experience (preferred)
  • Experience with 3D scanning (preferred)
  • strong communication skillscross-functional collaboration experience, and hands-on expertise with PPAP, FMEA, CAPA, and GD&T.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour
