Position Type: Temporary-to-Hire
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Position Summary
The Administrative Technician provides front-facing and internal administrative support to departments focused on Emergency Operations and Cannabis Compliance. This role supports daily administrative functions, public outreach initiatives, and compliance-related processes in a fast-paced government environment.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, professional, comfortable interacting with the public, and able to manage sensitive information while supporting regulatory and community-focused programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide customer service support in a public-facing government setting, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and via email
- Perform data entry, filing, document processing, and general administrative support
- Assist with scheduling, coordination, and communication with internal staff and departments
- Support Emergency Operations programs, including participation in community events focused on safety and disaster preparedness
- Assist the Cannabis Compliance Department with administrative tasks related to:
- Permit and application processing
- Cultivation and distribution tax rates
- Business licenses
- Review of violation reports
- Preparation and tracking of citations for non-compliance
- Support public outreach activities, including occasional Saturday community events
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Prior customer service experience, preferably in a government or public-facing environment
- Strong administrative and organizational skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred, but not required
- Availability to work occasional Saturdays for public outreach or special events
