Job description:

We are seeking a dependable and safety-conscious Material Handler I to support operations in a processing area that handles waste and recyclable materials. This temporary role is responsible for maintaining organized workspaces, safely handling materials, and assisting with processing equipment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and committed to safety and environmental compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate processing equipment such as shredders and conveyors safely and efficiently.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the processing area at all times.
• Collect and stage scrap and recyclable materials from various buildings for processing.
• Prepare and sort cardboard and other inert materials in preparation for blending.
• Clean and maintain processing equipment and surrounding work areas as needed.
• Ensure all containers are labeled correctly and accurately.
• Follow all work instructions, safety procedures, and environmental protocols.
• Uphold high ethical standards and integrity in all tasks.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
• Forklift certification.
• Hazardous materials first responder certification.
• Confined space and Lockout/Tagout certification.
• Familiarity with SDS/MSPI procedures.
• Basic math skills and attention to detail.
• Dependable, responsible, and capable of working effectively with others.

Additional Requirements

• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
