Position Summary:

The Payroll Compliance & Tax Analyst will report directly to the Director of Payroll and manage all correspondence with federal, state, and local tax agencies. The role ensures timely, accurate responses to payroll tax issues and helps maintain compliance across all jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident in providing effective solutions to complex payroll tax challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stay current on federal and state payroll tax regulations and ensure accurate tax payments.
  • Partner with the Payroll Team to review and implement updated compliance requirements.
  • Resolve complex payroll tax issues efficiently, addressing all correspondence promptly.
  • Develop and maintain a tax compliance process to identify, document, and resolve discrepancies or outdated tax rates.
  • Support internal controls and audits to ensure compliance across all tax jurisdictions.

Qualifications:

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of experience in payroll, tax, or compliance.
  • Experience with federal and state payroll tax filings is preferred.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and basic accounting/financial recordkeeping principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve payroll tax discrepancies.
  • Dependable, accountable, and committed to accuracy and timely completion of tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive payroll information with discretion.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset for processes and workflows.
