Description
Under general direction, the Facilities Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing a broad range of maintenance, repair, and minor construction duties for District facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position completes both skilled and semi-skilled maintenance work, including routine custodial and landscaping tasks, while helping ensure District properties remain safe, functional, and well maintained. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Inspect, maintain, and repair District buildings, grounds, and related facilities to ensure they remain clean, safe, and in good operating condition.
• Identify maintenance issues, recommend solutions, prioritize repairs, and complete corrective work as needed.
• Perform a variety of maintenance duties including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, plaster, painting, and mechanical repairs.
• Safely operate, maintain, and repair hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
• Operate a forklift when required and, on occasion, use equipment such as aerial lifts, hoists, generators, air compressors, paint sprayers, welders, cutting torches, and power saws.
• Complete minor interior improvements by installing or repairing doors, shelving, partitions, flooring, furniture, equipment, and other non-structural building components.
• Service, maintain, and perform basic repairs on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to support efficient operation.
• Repair and maintain flooring materials, including carpet and tile, and service locking mechanisms on doors, cabinets, lockers, and file storage units.
• Perform custodial duties as needed, including cleaning floors, windows, shade structures, solar panels, and other District facilities.
• Maintain dependable attendance and report to work on time.
• Carry out additional job-related responsibilities as assigned.
