Job Title: Risk Management Specialist (Temporary Assignment)

Pay: $30–$34 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Full-Time, 40 hours/week
Assignment Length: 3–6 months (possibility of extension)

About the Opportunity

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Risk Management Specialist to support the City’s Human Resources & Risk Department on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for an administrative professional with a background in risk management, insurance coordination, or HR compliance who enjoys working in a structured, fast-paced environment.

You’ll assist with insurance compliance, claims processing, employee training tracking, and other essential administrative duties that help keep city operations running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and track Certificates of Insurance (COI) and related endorsements to ensure compliance with City contract requirements.
  • Process general liability and subrogation claims, routing them to the City’s insurance carrier or TPA.
  • Maintain and update the City’s vehicle insurance inventory and related documentation.
  • File and manage incident and loss reports, coordinating with third-party administrators as needed.
  • Track and organize employee training compliance and leave requests (FMLA/CFRA).
  • Support the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Commercial Driver’s License (EPN) compliance.
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources & Risk Manager for special projects and other related tasks.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field (required).
  • 1–3 years of experience in risk management, HR, or insurance coordination (preferred).
  • Strong computer skills, including intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, and written communication skills.
  • Professional, reliable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude and commitment to confidentiality.
