Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Lead II

Department: Operations
Reports To: Packing House Manager – Armando Mozqueda
Type of Assignment: Contract-to-Hire
Status: Non-Exempt
Pay Range: $21.00 – $25.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week with overtime (evenings) as needed
Work Location: On-site
Hiring Timeframe: ASAP, but willing to wait for the right fit

Job Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Lead II plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of incoming and outgoing goods within a fast-paced food production and distribution facility. This position ensures compliance with food safety standards, monitors inventory movement, supports logistical planning, and assists in leading a team of warehouse staff.

The ideal candidate is fluent in both English and Spanish, highly organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment—especially in the afternoons when orders must be processed and shipped efficiently.

This is a hands-on leadership role that requires strong communication, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety and operational excellence.

Essential FunctionsShipping and Receiving Operations

  • Supervise and participate in daily shipping and receiving activities to ensure accurate and timely processing of all products and materials.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound deliveries to verify quantities, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Conduct physical inspections and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and prevent spoilage or loss.
  • Coordinate with Procurement, Production, Fulfillment, and Quality Assurance teams to meet delivery and scheduling requirements.
  • Enforce all food safety protocols (HACCP, GMPs, etc.) during handling, storage, and transportation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all shipping and receiving areas in accordance with food industry standards.

Document Control & Accuracy

  • Maintain accurate inventory and shipment records using warehouse management or ERP systems (V18, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Ensure complete and accurate documentation for all shipments, including packing slips, bills of lading, and delivery reports.
  • Manage receiving documentation—scan, upload, and store digitally and physically.
  • Verify that all shipping information is properly transmitted between systems (V18 to NetSuite) to support automated billing.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Address and resolve shipping issues promptly, reporting discrepancies to management.
  • Communicate receiving discrepancies or damaged/missing goods to the Purchasing team immediately.
  • Match receiving documentation to purchase orders for timely payment processing.
  • Assist with reconciliation to resolve any receiving or billing mismatches.

Process Improvement & Reporting

  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements to shipping, receiving, and documentation processes.
  • Prepare and maintain reports and KPIs related to shipping, receiving, and inventory performance.
  • Serve as a liaison between warehouse and office teams to ensure strong communication and workflow efficiency.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Support and evaluate department performance, addressing performance gaps and improving efficiency.
  • Train, mentor, and support warehouse staff on shipping/receiving procedures, safety, and compliance.
  • Lead by example—promoting a respectful, inclusive, and employee-focused work culture.

  • Maintain open communication and uphold company standards of excellence and professionalism.
  • Ensure staff safety and compliance with all protocols and food handling requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in logistics or supply chain preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations—preferably in the food or beverage industry.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and handling regulations.
  • Proficient with ERP/WMS systems (V18, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Must be fully bilingual and fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, bend, twist, and reach throughout the shift.

  • Must be comfortable working in cold environments (below 45°F) for extended periods.
  • Exposure to loud noise levels typical of production and warehouse environments.
